New News from Nubrx
Initial Testing Video
While we have since done a lot more testing using various carts and configurations, we have shared this video so many times from our initial testing in 2016 that we finally have added it to our site. This was a simple setup to demonstrate the ability to scan the items in a makeshift cart.
It’s Amazon Go Time!
Nubrx has been excited to watch all of the news and activity related to Amazon Go. The new convenience store is using cameras and amazing technology to eliminate the need for check-out lines. When news first came out of the concept, we were excited as Amazon can create the buzz and publicity around scan-less checkout.
Jim Lungaro has been working on scan-less checkout for nearly 10 years. He has pioneered changes within the payment industry to streamline processes and has been pushing and pulling retailers in this direction. Many feared the concept as it sounded too futuristic and not something that will be easy to achieve.
Amazon has demonstrated that it is the future. While Amazon can create a concept store and invest millions to simply try things out, Nubrx believes there are multiple ways in which stores can introduce scan-less checkout. We have been testing solutions for the past couple of years and establishing strong partnerships throughout the IoT community. Contact us to discuss the solution right for your business.
Nubrx – Open Connectivity Foundation
Nubrx is proud to be part of the Open Connectivity Foundation.
OCF is leading the creation of interoperability guidelines. Nubrx looks to adhere to and participate in these efforts to improve the ability to rollout new IoT devices and improve the ability to launch new processes.
Scan-less Checkout
Nubrx has been perfecting scan-less checkout, with the founding members having years of experience with Bluetooth, RFID, NFC, sensors and all of the components necessary for an exceptional customer experience. What is scan-less checkout, which is also referred to as cashier-less checkout?
Technology exists today where you no longer have to put all of your products in a cart and take them back out only to put them back in something else. Why take minutes to do something that you can do in seconds? Nubrx helps eliminate all of the unnecessary steps while making sure that all of the appropriate actions for the payment take place.
ATM’s at banks have been around for years and some banks are beginning to get rid of the drive-through teller line altogether now. Restaurants are beginning to use self-ordering kiosks. The timing is right for brick & mortar retailers to begin automating a function that causes customer dissatisfaction and high costs. It is already difficult enough to compete with online retailers on price as they do not have the same overhead as large storefronts.
What happens to the cashiers? There is no doubt that retail automation will impact jobs. With similar types of transformations in the past, the majority of the jobs will be transformed where the cashiers become sales specialists, helping the customers. This not only has significantly improved the customer satisfaction, but also has shown a huge increase in the average order size, again benefiting both the retailer and the customer.
Out with the Old, In with the Nubrx (New Bricks)
Happy 2017! The Nubrx team is very excited for 2017 as we continue to see a huge push towards IoT enabling retailers, RFID tagging inventory and most importantly, the realization of scan-less payments. While scan-less sounds intimidating to some retailers and consumers, we expect the concept to pick up momentum considerably and the concept is going to gain acceptance.
Our team is heading out to NRF’s Big Show in New York. We look forward to meeting with our partners and customers and kicking off the new year.
